Following a request by Prime Minister Adnan Terzic, the High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, has issued a Decision amending the Law on Police Officials of Bosnia and Herzegovina . This technical amendment will ensure that police experience – and not general work experience – is the relevant criterion for awarding ranks to police officials.
Once this amendment is enacted, the Ministry of Security must adopt a by-law on the re-attribution of ranks conforming to the Law on Public Officials including today’s amendment. This will enable the State Border Service and SIPA to start the long overdue process of re-attributing ranks, and will in consequence determine the salaries of the police personnel.
