Yugoslavia
Spokesman of NATO, Jamie Shea, has been accused by some world media recently for his way of announcing facts about NATO strikes on Yugoslavia and giving comments. At today’s press conference in Brussels, he was optimistic regarding Belgrade accepting five NATO conditions in the following week.
NATO continued to hit military posts of the Yugoslav Army in Kosovo. The most severe strikes occurred in the vicinity of Prizren and in Pec. New Kosovo refugees cross borders.
Sarajevo
Association of Independent Intellectuals “Circle 99” discussed return of refugees to the capital of BiH today. Guest of the session was the President of the Sarajevo Declaration Implementation Managing Board, Mirza Hajric. There were opposite opinions from the guest and the host about the poor results of refugee return.
Kiseljak – Fojnica
Unfortunately, Sarajevo is not the only example for the lack of return. Croat and Bosniak returnees moving between Kiseljak and Fojnica are facing a series of problems. OBN reporter, Ana Drmac, highlighted the Podcitonja village in the Fojnica Municipality where displaced Croats are supposed to return but have problems with water. However, in the Sevarlije village, 64 out of 415 Bosniak families have returned due to help of humanitarian organizations.
Podgorani and Prigradani (Mostar)
Villagers of Podgorani and Prigradani villages near Mostar received a water supply system.
At the same time, the same emphasis for survival has also been to clear mines. OBN reporter, Duska Jurisic, visited the area and reported on mine clearing in the Bjelopolje area.
Highway through BiH Federation
Federal Ministry for Traffic and Communications announced a tender for building the highway section between Sarajevo and Zenica in newspapers Oslobodenje and The Financial Times. The funds for this operation are $315 million. The greatest part of the operation will be performed by local companies.
This was followed by a report on Ostrozac bridge on the road Konjic-Jablanica in Buturovic Polje, where reconstruction is undergoing. OBN reporter, Branka Vrebac, sent her report.
Duge (Herzegovina)
Upon the intervention of the OHR, the building of the water power plant in the Herzegovina village, Duge, has been stopped. Villagers are afraid that the unique natural environment of the area could be destroyed and villagers could be without water.
Prijedor
A piece on the difficult economic situation in the RS. Only one of many examples is a tyre factory in Prijedor which lost its market at the start of the NATO strikes on Yugoslavia.
