High Representative Christian Schmidt, together with acting Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Darja Softić-Kadenić, paid his respects to victims of the 1994 Markale marketplace massacre and attended the commemorative session marking the Remembrance Day and the 29th anniversary of the Markale Massacre.
“29 years on, Bosnia and Herzegovina is a different place, turned towards a safer future in the European family. But we must never forget those who were killed and injured while trying to buy basic groceries for their families, as a reminder to never allow such atrocities again.
All young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regardless of their background, should see it as their task that such scenes should never happen again,” said the High Representative.
