After today’s separate meetings with Plavsic and Dodik in Banja Luka, the US Ambassador to BiH, Richard Kauzlarich, stated that they had discussed economic assistance for the RS and its Government, planned by the OHR for the coming period. They also spoke about the Conference on Refugee Returns to be held on April 28th.

Speaker of the RS National Assembly, Dragan Kalinic, met today in Banja Dvorovi, Bijeljina with representatives of the Clubs of NA Deputies, behind closed doors. The discussion centered on reviewing information on the forthcoming elections and the OSCE rules. Kalinic announced that the next meeting of the Clubs will be held in one week’s time, and will be preceded by tomorrow’s meeting of the NA Heads and representatives of parliamentary parties with the Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Robert Barry, on new supplementary electoral rules.

RS Prime Minister Dodik received the Deputy HR, Hanns Schumacher, today in Banja Luka. Commenting on the statement made by the SDS and Momcilo Krajisnik, that “the economic situation in the RS will get worse”, Schumacher said it was ridiculous. He stated that if one views the period from January until today, one can say that “Dodik means prosperity.” The Deputy HR informed the press that the regular international donor’s conference will be held on May 8th in Brussels. Deputy Speaker of the RS NA, Nikola Poplasen, also met with Schumacher in Banja Luka today.

Co-Chairmans of the BiH CoM, Boro Bosic and Haris Silajdzic, left for Sweden today. Together with a representative of the Croat people in BiH, Neven Tomic, they met with managers of “Ericson”, the Swedish telecommunications company. In the Swedish Chamber of Commerce they met with leading Swedish economists, and discussed possible cooperation between the two countries.

OSCE Spokesman in Sarajevo, Nicol Schultz, stated at today’s press conference in Sarajevo that there will be no change in electing members of the BiH Presidency. In the forthcoming September elections they will be elected at entity level, not at the BiH level. At today’s press conference in Sarajevo, Aisling Byrne, OHR Spokeswoman, announced that a Conference on Refugee Returns will be held in Banja Luka on April 28th. She also stated that the deadline for crossing borders with old licence plates is extended until August 31st.

Construction workers found an anti-personnel mine near a house which is being prepared for Brcko Supervisor Robert Farand. SFOR denied any possibility of subversion, but stated that the mine was laid during the war.
