News Summary
OHR holds press conference in Sarajevo
The OHR held a press conference in Sarajevo. “The OHR is surprised and worried over the fact that BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic and RS National Assembly Speaker Petar Djokic are traveling to Belgrade with Nikola Poplasen, who is an ordinary citizen of the RS” stated Deputy High Representative Simon Haselock. “The OHR is disappointed that high officials of the RS are meeting with Poplasen, who was dismissed by decision of the High Representative for violating the Dayton Agreement” added Haselock. It is hard to understand that high officials of the RS are contacting Milosevic, who is indicted for war crimes. Haselock commented on the fourth extraordinary session of the RS National Assembly, saying that the entities are not authorized to involve themselves in the issue of BiH charges against Yugoslavia, but that it is a matter for the BiH Constitutional Court. “The RS National Assembly is not competent to dispute the decisions of the BiH Presidency” stated Haselock. He said that local and entity authorities should grant monetary resources for reconstruction from their budgets. Haselock called for respect of the decision of the Chamber for Human Rights on the rebuilding of mosques in Banja Luka.
