News Summary
OHR press conference in Sarajevo
The OHR held press conference in Sarajevo. OHR spokesperson Alexandra Stiglmayer stated that High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch requested the correction of a mistake published in the RS Official Gazette concerning the decision dismissing RT RS General Director Andjelko Kozomara. Stiglmayer said that the decision on his dismissal did not have a legal basis. Only the RT RS Executive Board has the right to dismiss and nominate the RT RS General Director, added Stiglmayer. “Andjelko Kozomara is the RT RS General Director, not the acting general director” Stiglmayer said. Meanwhile, the OHR supported a decision of the RS National Assembly adopting the law on the establishment of the institution of Ombudsman in the RS. The ombudsman will examine the respect of human rights as well as irregularities in the functioning of RS administration. The law’s adoption brings the RS and BiH one step closer to Europe, she said. Stiglmayer said that the High Representative welcomes the BiH Presidency decision on the reconstruction of the BiH Council of Ministers.

Reporter Director Perica Vucinic interrogated by Banja Luka Court – BETA
Director of the Reporter magazine Perica Vucinic was interrogated in the Banja Luka First Instance Court on charges that had been raised by the Sremska Mitrovica Regional Court in Serbia, BETA reports. The Regional Court charged with him the suspicion of violating the reputation of Yugoslavia. Also, the Sremska Mitrovica Public Prosecutor has raised charges against Reporter journalist Zeljko Cvijanovic. The pair was charged in connection with the contents of the first page of the Reporter magazine edition of 6 October 1999. In the said edition, the first page had a photo of Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic with three ears, one eye, wearing the Kokarde insignia (Serb double-headed eagle) and Sajkaca (Serb military cap). Also, Vucinic and Cvijanovic had jointly published an article entitled “Bookkeeper of Fear and Dictatorships” which was in reference to Milosevic. In this article, Milosevic was presented as a dictator. Vucinic, in his defense, states that he took this photo from the Associated Press Daily Service and had not edited it. Vucinic said that he did not feel guilty. The police will interrogate Zeljko Cvijanovic on 15 February.
