Sarajevo – Alija Izetbegovic, BiH Presidency Chairman talked with representatives of the OHR, EU and Contact Group. The talks focused on last week’s terrorist act in Mostar. Estimating the attack in Mostar as a serious danger both for the DPA and for positive steps to be made forward in the Federation, Chairman Izetbegovic demanded from the IC an efficient and impartial investigation. The same topic was discussed by Ejup Ganic, Deputy Federation President with Manfred Seitner, IPTF Commissioner. Seitner informed Izetbegovic that the IPTF is overseeing the investigation on the Mostar incident. Talks also focused on police reconstruction in Brcko which is expected to start straight after the election results have been made public. 2’30”

Mostar – The joint work of the Bosniak and Croatian side will start tomorrow on investigation of the auto bomb blast in the west part of Mostar, concluded the Interior Ministry Meeting of H-N Canton. It was also agreed that Bosniak nationality members of the Joint police forces would return to their posts as soon as possible. They had withdrawn from work due to the security measures following a suggestion by cantonal Interior Minister Valentin Coric. The Federal MUP expert teams, who until now were not allowed to take part in the investigation, will attend tomorrow’s meeting.

Sarajevo – The OHR is appealing to all sides not to prejudice the investigation results on the Mostar incident and so complicate the situation there even more, Simon Haselock, Westendorp’s Spokesman told media today. He said that after the terrorist act in Mostar reports appeared in the media suggesting that those responsible for the misdeed were to be sought on one or other side. The investigation is still in progress and we must wait for its results, Haselock said.

Brussels – Some 32,000 SFOR members will stay in BiH after expiration of their mandate in July next year, Javier Solana, Secretary-General hinted on Monday. So he minimised any dilemma of what is going to happen after the next 10 months.

New York – Talking at the 52nd UN General Assembly, Bill Clinton, US President promised to cover the US debt to the UN. Besides the recent air tragedy in our country, he did not mention Bosnia. He generally assessed that the UN must support those who are for peace. The meeting of NATO member states together with Russia, at the ministerial level was announced to be held at the end of the week with Bosnia as one of the key topics.

Zagreb – DPA and BiH were on agenda of the Turkish President Demirel and Croatian President Tudjman’s meeting. This meeting has in a way contributed to the break of the world’s isolation of Croatia. Demirel is the only President of a foreign country who in the last two years officially visited Croatia.

Presser of the IO – The conflicts among police loyal to Banja Luka and those loyal to Pale, were renewed early this morning, Alex Ivanko, UN Spokesman told media today. IPTF still has not all details. The RS has reliable information that special police forces were led by recently replaced Minister for Internal Affairs Milenko Karisik.

The first results of the local elections could be known on Wednesday, but they will be public on Friday, David Foley, OSCE Spokesman announced today. There are many reasons for the delay. The most serious were various complaints from all sides in BiH, as well as the counting complications.
