Banja Luka

A round table “The Hague Tribunal and reconciliation in B&H” ended today in Banja Luka. All participants agreed that a co-operation with the Hague Tribunal must exist.

Secret indictments were also part of the agenda. Most of participants agreed that they should be revealed. About 60 judges and lawyers participated at the round table. Reported by Milorad Milojevic from Banja Luka.

Zagreb

The Croatian Assembly adopted a declaration on co-operation with the ICTY. The HDZ protested against this decision and their representatives left the Assembly room. This was interpreted as the attempt of former authorities to conceal their role in some “dark episodes” of the war. Reported by Gordana Simonovic from Zagreb.

World

Cechenian fighters attacked Russian positions near Grozny. Situation on the border between Cechenia and Daghestan is complicated, because Cechenian fighters try to enter Daghestan.

Russia granted return of the OSCE mission in Cechenia. It should take place at the beginning of May.

Ministers of finance from 7 world countries and Russia will meet in Washington in order to discuss the world economy. The IMF announced their optimistic evaluation, according to which the world economy should have a 4.2% growth in this year.

Italians will vote at the regional elections on Sunday. This is a step towards federalisation of Italy.

Results should be announced on the same day.

The Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General, Jacques Klein visited the scene where 3 children died 6 days ago. He invited citizens to inform police on the existence of all unmarked mine fields. The police will co-operate with schools in order to prevent such tragedies, said Klein.

Zenica

The Union of workers in the Electro-industry decided to define efficient measures for protection of their members. Reasons for this are changes in laws on work and the fact that a plan of social protection hasn’t been adopted yet at the Federation level. Reported by Sanela Vilasevic from Zenica.

Brcko

The Brcko District Union has been formed recently. The Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand is very satisfied with this. This is a very valuable decision and they should continue in this direction, said Farrand. The District Union Assembly should take place on 10th May. Zenica

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has existed in Zenica for 23 years. A manifestation called “The Day of Opened Doors” took place today in Zenica, in order to inform students on possibilities of studying at this faculty. The report was produced by Ninoslava Kolar.

Srebrenica

The Municipality Assembly in Srebrenica adopted a decision on construction of a memorial centre for victims of Srebrenica tragedy in 1995. The international community representatives will mediate in finding the location. The UN officer for civil issues, Adel Zaazov believes that there won’t be any problems.
