Banja Luka
At today’s special session of the RS Assembly in Banja Luka, representatives of the Coalition for United and Democratic BiH left the meeting. The representatives left the session due to the introduction of the following issue on the agenda: Discussion regarding Zivko Radisic’s position in respect to the BiH Presidency decision on raising of charges against the Federal Republic Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia
Heads of the Serbian opposition parties and the Montenegrin President, Milo Djukanovic, will meet foreign ministers of the European Union tomorrow in Luxembourg. They will discuss the democratisation of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and partial cancelling of the oil embargo. In the meantime, protests of opposition parties have been held in Serbia. The number of incidents in Kosovo has decreased, OBN journalist, Mladen Maric, confirmed.
Neum
A piece on the position of old people in the BiH Federation. Pensioners in the BiH Federation organised protests yesterday. The Red Cross in the BiH Federation and RS is trying to help them. 1999 is the international year of old people. This was the cause for the round table meeting in the “Zenit” hotel in Neum about “Old People, their Needs and Contribution to the Community”. Sarajevo
This was followed by a piece on the meeting of the Association of Independent Intellectuals “Circle 99”. At today’s meeting, the participants discussed the position of children in BiH. The children in BiH are faced with severe violation of their rights. There is no sufficient social care for the children in BiH. Segregation and discrimination are present in schools. Jablanica
Can the state prevent illegal construction of houses on the Jablanica lake? Five months ago, a decision on protection of the coastal part of the lake was adopted by the Municipality Council of Jablanica. The owner of the land is the hydro-electricity plant “Jablanica”. However, no one is respecting the decision, OBN reporter, Anes Alic, confirmed.
Foca
A piece on the current, difficult economic situation in the Foca Municipality (Srbinje). Currently, 23,000 people live the municipality. Only 5, 000 of them work while there is the same number of refugees in the municipality. The officials hope that better co-operation with the International Community would bring economic progress to the municipality. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Adis Saranovic.
Banja Luka
The RS Government announced endorsement of the new law on the judiciary. According to the reactions of judges and public prosecutors in the RS, the new law will only strengthen the influence of executive judiciary power, instead of makeing it weaker, OBN reporter from the town, Sanela Zivkovic, confirmed.
Bijeljina
