The newly-elected members of the BiH Presidency, at an informal meeting which was held in the presence of the HR Carlos Westendorp and his associates in Sarajevo today, talked with members of the Steering board of the Peace Implementation Council.

The Head of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia, Robert Barry, analysed the course and the conduct of the recently held general September elections in Bosnia with representatives of the NGOs in Sarajevo today. According to Barry, NGOs’ reports are very detailed, well-documented and full of recommendations worth considering.

After having met with the Brcko mayor Borko Reljic, the RS NA Speaker, Petar Djokic, told journalists that the basic topic of today’s talks was the realisation of obligations related to the additional arbitration award on Brcko.

The current president of the RS, Biljana Plavsic, received the Greek Ambassador to BiH in Banja Luka today. “I talked with President Plavsic about joint cooperation during the past year” the Greek Ambassador said, stressing that they also talked about the post-election situation in the RS and current events in Kosovo.

The SRS leader and the newly-elected President of the RS, Nikola Poplasen, and the international mediator to BiH, Christian Schwartz Schillling, considered at today’s meeting, inter alia, the possibility of refugee and DP returns to their pre-war homes. After having met with Schwartz Schilling, Poplasen received the Portuguese Ambassador to BiH. The participants of this meeting did not address journalists.

The president of the SDS presidency, Dragan Kalinic, and his deputy, Dragan Cavic, did not want to comment today on Poplasen’s statement given in an interview to the Belgrade-based private TV station BK, in which the newly-elected president of the RS spoke about the possibility of inclusion of KCDBiH counsellors in the RS Government.

Momcilo Krajisnik received the Austrian Ambassador to BiH and political director of the OSCE mission to Bosnia in a farewell visit. They mainly discussed the situation in Kosovo. Asked by journalists to comment on the reaction of the U.S. Embassy regarding the statement given by SDS vice president, Dragan Cavic, Krajisnik replied: “I have to say that is not only his personal attitude. The whole party stands behind it”.

The Serb Coalition for RS, at a press conference held in Banja Luka today, discussed the current political situation in Kosovo. The president of the Coordination board of the Coalition Predrag Lazarevic stated that if NATO forces bomb FRY without the approval of the Security Council and endanger its sovereignty in that way, that would cause the end of the DA and the UN, and would lead to wide-scale conflict and the world catastrophe. According to Brdjanin, the RS Government should publicly condemn the announcements of bombing FRY.
