Today’s session of the RS Government determined the autumn plant programme for the RS and discussed a number of personnel-related issues.

Agencies report that the Head of the OSCE mission in BiH, Robert Barry, is going to publish the official results from the general elections in the RS and the BH Federation in Sarajevo at 12:00 hrs tomorrow. The OSCE will publish the number of votes obtained by respective political parties and independent candidates, but will not publish the order of seats in the respective parliaments. The latter will only be done once the PEC have confirmed the election results.

The U.S. Special Envoy for the Balkans, Robert Gelbard, held separate meetings with President Plavsic and Prime Minister Dodik in BL today. The topics discussed included the results from the recently held general elections and the continuation of cooperation. “We are looking forward to continuing our cooperation with Prime Minister Dodik and we will continue to offer economic support and any other support to those who deserve it through their politics, like Plavsic and Dodik”.

Special Envoy Gelbard also met with the President of the RS SP, Zivko Radisic, who is the Sloga Coalition candidate for the position of the RS member at the BiH Presidency.

The HR, Carlos Westendorp, today threatened to undertake punitive measures against those future political leaders in BiH who would obstruct the ongoing democratic processes in the country. Carlos Westendorp earlier stated that the elections had gone in line with democratic international standards and refuted speculations that the election results would not be recognised by the IC.

The Speaker of the RS Parliament, Petar Djokic, met with Olivier Fontanne, the First Secretary of the French Embassy in BiH, in BL today. The French diplomat expressed interest in the current situation in the RS and the political circumstances here that had developed after the elections. Djokic stressed that the elections in the RS had taken place in a genuinely free and democratic atmosphere.

Hague Tribunal experts, supported by NATO troops, today searched the HVO HQ in Mostar, along with HVO premises in Siroki Brijeg for possible evidence on war crimes.

A UNHCR-sponsored visit by Serb refugees to their pre-war homes in the area of the Kljuc municipality has taken place today. The visit, which was provided with additional safety measures, proceeded with no incidents reported.
