After several postponements, the Agreement on special relations between Croatia and the B&H Federation, as well as the agreement on the use of the Ploce port were signed in Zagreb. Before the signing ceremony, the first session of the Inter-State Council for Cooperation between Croatia and B&H consisting of the Croatian President Franjo Tudjman and the three members of the B&H Presidency, led by the B&H Presidency Chairman Zivko Radisic, was held in the presidential premises in Zagreb. It was agreed that the concrete ways of cooperation between Croatia and B&H should be regulated by annexes which are to be made by July 1 of the next year. On this occasion, the Deputy High Representative Jacques Klein underlined that signing of the Agreement announced a new chapter in the relations between Croatia and B&H and that it significantly shortened the distance between Sarajevo and Zagreb.

The two-day International Conference on the topic “Self-determination in the international law” organized by the Helsinki Human Rights Committee for Serbia concludes in Belgrade tonight. The Conference discussed the principles of the self-determination of the national minorities in the international law with a special emphasis on Kosovo.

The High Representative to B&H Carlos Westendorp made the final arbitration award according to which the former members of the B&H Army should get 76% and the members of the HVO 24% of the securities. The award was made since the highest representatives of the two sides in the joint B&H Federation Army could not agree on the ratio in which they were supposed to share DM 7 billion predicted for the Army members in the process of privatization.

At the ceremony of the Croat University anniversary in Mostar, the Croat member of the B&H Presidency Ante Jelavic stated that he considers that the political relations with the international community will be strained if there is an attempt of imposing of the new electoral law in B&H without the change of the existing constitutions. According to the Sarajevo press, after Jelavic’s speech in Mostar which is assessed to be sharper than the one in Capljina given a month ago, the HR to B&H Carlos Westendorp warned the Croat member of the B&H Presidency.
