News Summary

RS Government appoints SRNA General Director

On Tuesday, the RS Government appointed Dragan Davidovic SRNA General Director. RS Information Minister Vasic stated that an administrative mistake had initiated the problem of the dismissal and appointment of SRNA general director, because RS Government had not sent an explanation about the dismissal to the former SRNA general director. Vasic added that the RS Government had corrected the mistake and accepted the objection of the RS Supreme Court according to which the decision of RS Government on dismissal of the former director was not invalid due to lack of explanation.

Johnson holds press conference

On Tuesday in Banja Luka, Deputy High Representative Ralph Johnson held a press conference where he stated that the BiH border service must be formed on the state level, not the entity level, because the state is authorized to control the borders. Johnson believes that the BiH Parliament will adopt the law on border services. Johnson added that the list of 800 persons who use two or more accommodations was interpreted in the wrong way, because that was not a new, but an old document. Commenting on the statement by Banja Luka Mayor Djordje Umicevic that he would not leave his office, Johnson said that the decision of the High Representative was final and binding.

Petritsch appoints 21 members to RTV BiH Federation Executive Board – Stiglmayer

At a press conference in Sarajevo on Tuesday, OHR spokesperson Alexandra Stiglmayer stated that High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch had appointed 21 members of the RTV BiH Federation Executive Board. The BiH Federation Assembly nominated seven members. Another 14 members were nominated and appointed by the High Representative.

RS Alliance of Municipalities and Cities protests Petritsch and Barry decision to dismiss nine RS officials

On Tuesday in Samac, the Presidency of the RS Alliance of Municipalities and Cities held a session where they protested the decision of High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch and Head of OSCE Mission to BiH Robert Barry to dismiss of nine RS officials. The Presidency believes that these decisions are not legally founded. According to the Presidency, the decision was an undemocratic act, which is not in accordance to the European Declaration on local autonomy.

IMC authorizes St. George to resume broadcasting

The Independent Media Commission has authorized RTV St. George to resume broadcasting following after the station paid a 1,000 KM penalty for violation of the IMC Code on Editorial Policy.
