RT RS News Summary:
Petritsch meets with IDIS officials in Srpsko Sarajevo, says only state can call referendum, not political parties (00:33)
High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch met with the representatives of the NGO IDIS in Srpsko Sarajevo on Tuesday. Petritsch said only the state can organize a referendum, and not individual political parties. He called on the Croats to respect established institutions, abide by the Dayton Peace Agreement and participate in the implementation of this peace agreement. He added that there would be no political propaganda on Election Day, 11 November, and that he would insist on the equality of all the people in BiH, Serbs, Croats and Bosniaks. Petritsch also stressed the significance of NGO IDIS in the creation of positive change in BiH.
Initiative of Croat parties for referendum has no legal basis – OSCE spokesman Luke Zahner (00:49)
OSCE spokesman Luke Zahner told a press conference that the initiative of BiH Croat parties headed by the HDZ to hold a referendum does not have legal foundation. He said parties that want change should respect the procedure for the adoption of amendments to the constitutions of the BiH entities and BiH. Zahner said parties should direct their attention to the current issues of interest to voters that include employment, fighting corruption, education and preparations for BiH integration into Europe. The OSCE says the EASC has removed Borko Reljic, a DNS candidate running for the RS National Assembly, due to his participation in demonstrations of Serb students in Brcko. The OSCE assessed Reljic’s support for the demonstrations as a violation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
