News Summary

OHR/OSCE condemn murder of Serb police officer in Drvar, murderer still at large – UN

The OHR and OSCE condemned the killing of Serb police officer Ratko Sopic in Drvar on 19 June. UN spokesperson Stefo Lehman confirmed that the incident happened in front of a café. Croat DP Zvonimir Cabrajic, who also injured Croat police officer Borislav Miocevic, shot and killed Sopic. The murderer is currently at large. The local police, SFOR and IPTF have started a manhunt. At a press conference in Banja Luka, an SFOR spokesperson said that this was not a terrorist act. However, when asked whether the murder of an unarmed Serb police officer represents the continuation of human rights violations in Drvar, this international official answered by saying that this question should be answered by the IPTF. The RT RS presenter comments, saying that, “on the other hand, no IPTF officials were present at the conference, at all.”
