News Summary

Petritsch and Barry remind BiH Parliament of obligation to adopt election law

High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch and Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH again reminded of the BiH Parliament’s obligation to adopt an election law in order to enter the European Council. The possibility of holding general elections in the fall at the suggestion of the Peace Implementation Council and OSCE Permanent Council will not resolve this obligation. The election law remains the key test of the determination of our country to join Europe. The OHR and OSCE, on clues of illegal profiteering of local authorities, remind municipal authorities that were not reelected that they are not authorized to bring decisions they failed to adopt during their mandate in order to make a profit. Deputy OSCE spokesperson Alexander Nitzcshe stated that municipal officials must stay away from any illegal profiteering in the post election period.

Secretary of the BiH Federation Refugee Ministry Fadil Haveric stated that the Ministry and refugees share equal responsibility in the use of these funds in a more efficient manner. SDA reacts to Tokic statement on Ganic

The SDA recently reacted to a statement by SDP Main Board Vice-president Sejfudin Tokic, who said that the SDA leadership demonstrated its totalitarianism in the case of Ejup Ganic’s resignation. An SDA statement reads that the SDP, by its own admittance, is the legal and political successor to the Communistic Alliance. The SDA emphasized that those parties that inherited the dark achievements of the one-party system should not preach democracy.
