The Law on Housing was changed at today’s BiH Federation HoP. All legislative decisions made by court on canceling the usage of apartment to a housing right owner, after April 30 1991 were declared invalid. The letter of HR deputy Schumacher to the Federation Prime Minister Bicakcic says that this change establishes the same treatment for all pre-war owners of residential rights regardless of whether they lost their housing right on the basis of the Law on Housing Relations or on the Law on Abandoned Apartments.

BiH will receive a $50 million credit, as a result of negotiations between BiH delegation and the World Bank. The purpose of credit is support for entity budgets in the upcoming privatisation process of banks and enterprises, in accordance with recently adopted state Law on Privatisation.

Delegation of the Russian Federation visited Sarajevo today. Russian delegation met with CoM Co-chairman Silajdzic, Foreign Economy Minister deputy Grabovac and the Federation Prime Minister Bicakcic. Main issue of the discussion was renewal of the economic co-operation between the two countries.

Two heavy detonations shook Pristina last night as the fighting in Kosovo continues. The heaviest combats are taking place at the border with Albania and in Orahovac area. FRY President met with European delegation and said that Serbian offensive in Kosovo is finished.

About 350 SFOR Special Forces soldiers should arrive to Sarajevo on August 3 in order to support present SFOR forces and to contribute to the overall peace situation in BiH.

International mediator for BiH, Schwartz-Schilling met with Federation President Ganic and Federation Prime Minister Bicakcic. Schwartz-Schilling informed Ganic on his upcoming visit to the areas of refugee return in Central Bosnia and Herzegovina/Neretva Canton, and expressed his concern for obstruction of the return process in certain areas of the Federation.

European Commission signed two contracts with NGO’s worth 9,2 million DEM for reconstruction of houses in Mostar. The contracts also cover reconstruction of infrastructure.

Independent Media Commission (IMC) presented unique media codex for establishment of TV and radio programme in BiH that will become valid on August 1 and will be implemented in all TV and radio companies. IMC was formed on June 11 1998, by decision of HR Westendorp, and it will establish regulatory regime for media in BiH. IMC main assignment is to assure free, correct and impartial broadcasting of programme, as well as the press. TV houses will not be able to broadcast without the license issued by IMC. IMC will also allocate frequencies for broadcasters.
