BiH Presidency meets with ICTY Chief Prosecutor Del Ponte
During the meeting with ICTY Chief Prosecutor Carla Del Ponte the BiH Presidency expressed its readiness for full co-operation with The Hague. BiH Presidency Member Zivko Radisic mentioned secret indictments as a problem, emphasizing that persons on secret indictment lists could be found on candidate lists for the upcoming elections. BiH Presidency Member Alija Izetbegovic emphasized the need to arrest persons accused of heavy crimes, connecting this with the refugee return process. Del Ponte expressed her satisfaction with the Presidency’s readiness to cooperate with the ICTY, also emphasizing that cooperation is the obligation of BiH authorities.

BiH Presidency holds session and discusses border service draft law
The BiH Presidency held its regular session, attended by OHR representative Mate Hoffman, discussed only one topic on the agenda – the BiH border services. Hoffman presented the OHR report on work to date and the draft law on the BiH border service. After two hours of discussion, the BiH Presidency did not reach a final solution. Advisor to Presidency Member Alija Izetbegovic, Mirza Hajric, stated that this issue is very important and key in the fight against corruption in BiH.

Klein visits Foca and meets with RS Interior Minister Novic
After reopening the IPTF office in Foca UN General Secretary Special Envoy Jacques Klein stated that there can be no normalising of life without law and order, there are currently no investments and common citizens cannot be blamed for the mistakes of their leaders. Klein stated that they would cooperate with the Interior Minister in implementation of the laws in order to create conditions for Rule of Law and that only when a safe environment is established could IC support become a reality. RS Interior Minister Sredoje Novic stated that they received significant material means in the form of technical assistance, adding that this was far from their expectations and they still have not received what their colleagues in the BiH Federation received.

Zenica Canton Court reaches verdict in Mostar terrorism case
The Zenica Canton Court has reached a verdict in the case re-trail against terrorists who committed the car bomb attack in Mostar, 1997. According to the Court, the main culprit of this terrorist act is still at large and unavailable to the prosecution bodies. Ahmed Suhveiri Handala was sentenced in absentia to 10 years in prison. Ali Ahmed Ali Hamad and Ebil Ali Alihila appeared before the Court and were sentenced to 8 and 5 years respectively. All of them are additionally declared persona non grata in the BiH Federation for five years after serving their sentences.

TV BiH correspondent Mirko Srdic attacked by President of Doboj Municipal Assembly Stojcinovic Doboj
President of Doboj Municipal Assembly Mirko Stojcinovic physically attacked TV BiH and BETA corespondent Mirko Srdic in front of Doboj Radio Editor-in-Chief at the Hotel Bosna. Stojcinovic then threatened Srdic with his finger, saying that Srdic will be physically liquidated if he does not leave Doboj soon. Srdic received facial injuries and informed Chief of Doboj Police Mirko Slavuljica and the IPTF. As for the reasons for this attack, Stojcinovic mentioned the documentary film “Corruption in Doboj” for which Srdic is credited, without his authorisation, as one of the authors of the film. Srdic denied his involvement in this production in a complaint to the IMC. He also complained to USAID and the OMEGA Agency and Club 92 who produced the film. Stojcinovic left on Wednesday on an official two-day trip to Yugoslavia, despite the fact that he is supposed to appear at the Doboj police station.

Haselock and Loraine on issuing six-month broadcasting license to EROTEL
At a press conference in Mostar, Deputy High Representative for Media Simon Haselock and new Head of the IMC Licensing Department Dieter Loraine explained the decision to issue a six-month license to TV EROTEL. Loraine stated that by issuing this license, the IMC has concluded their work on issuing temporary licenses to broadcasters. Loraine stated that EROTEL would be able to use 11 of the total 49 transmitters it previously used. According to this decision, EROTEL must be prepared to implement specific IMC requests, especially those related to the re-broadcasting of HRT programs in BiH.
