News Summary

BiH Federation Government holds session

The BiH Federation Government agreed on two law articles on TV channels and the transfer of property of the current TV BiH at Thursday’s session. Article 16 of this law predicts that this future TV outlet will broadcast on two channels, one using the Croat language and the other Bosniak, but both will be available throughout BiH. The second article in question was related to the property of the current RTV BiH. A new solution offers that, within a 6-month deadline, the current TV would transfer part of the property needed for BiH Federation TV under conditions to be agreed upon. BiH Federation Minister of Education Fahrudin Rizvanbegovic recommended support of this law, saying that it is not perfect, but reflects the current situation. According to Rizvanbegovic, for one-year of production by these BiH Federation TV channels, approximately DM 60 million is needed, which is unrealistic. The Government also discussed a draft law on amnesty and supported Dragan Covic’s reorganization of the Finance Ministry, where he is expected to dismiss lead people in the tax and customs administration.
