Petritsch discusses budget needs for implementation of property laws with Bicakcic and Dodik

High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch met with BiH entity Prime Ministers Edhem Bicakcic and Milorad Dodik in Sarajevo on Wednesday for talks on implementation of the set of property and housing laws and refugee return problems. Petritsch asserted that these issues are at the top of his priorities, adding that displaced persons must be allowed access to their property as soon as possible. The capacity and efficiency of housing offices in both entities must be enhanced and more funding must be ensured for next year’s budgets for reconstruction of devastated houses and building of new ones. Bicakcic and Dodik committed to ensuring enough funding for the purpose of refugee return for next year.

BiH Foreign Ministry calls for applications for 100 new employees

The BiH Foreign Ministry has called for applications for 100 open posts. All applicants must have a university degree and knowledge of at least one foreign language. Foreign Minister Jadranko Prlic stressed that there must be an end to nepotism within BiH diplomacy and that skills must be the first criteria for all employees of the BiH Foreign Ministry.

Candidates in forthcoming BiH elections cannot illegally occupy flats – PEC

The Provisional Election Commission introduced a ruling Tuesday by which no candidate occupying some one else’s apartment will be allowed to run in the forthcoming elections in BiH. Head of OSCE Mission to BiH Ambassador Robert Berry explained the new PEC rules at a meeting of Political Parties’ Consultative Council in Mostar and strongly advised political parties to discover where their candidates are living. The PEC will consider an eviction order as relevant proof of illegal tenancy and such candidates will be removed from the list before the elections or replaced after the elections. Ambassador Barry rejected allegations from some political parties that the draft election law is contradictory to the BiH Constitution.

IMC fines Croat RTV Herceg-Bosna 5,000 KM

At a session on Wednesday, the Independent Media Commission Enforcement Panel made a decision to fine Croat Radio TV Herceg-Bosna for 5,000 KM. Croat RTV Herceg-Bosna was penalized for its second consecutive violation of the IMC Programming Code.

SFOR does not take orders from IMC – SFOR spokesperson

SFOR troops do not take orders or suggestions from the IMC” MND Southeast spokesperson Laurent Mott stated at an IC press conference in Mostar on Wednesday. SFOR received the Independent Media Commission’s letter regarding TV Erotel on Tuesday, but have not reacted because no such request came from the OHR. SFOR is maintaining contact regarding the IMC’s demand to close TV Erotel, but will not react until requested to do so by the OHR.

Forum of BiH Parliamentarians 1990 demand Petritsch annul law on RS citizenship

The Forum of Parliamentarians of BiH 1990 demands that High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch suspend the newly adopted Law on RS Citizenship and instruct the RS Government in preparing a new draft law. “The RS leadership’s conduct in this issue and attempt to deny refugees the right to RS citizenship was not a surprise, but the fact that Petritsch has not condemned or annulled such a law was more than surprising” said a press release the Forum issued in Sarajevo on Wednesday.
