Sarajevo

Workers of the Energoinvest company section “Livnica” from Sarajevo have been on strike since the beginning of December. The workers of the Sarajevo company Vranica branch from Banovici have gone on strike at the end of November last year. Worker of both factories demand their salaries for the last several months to be paid. On Tuesday next week, approximately 500 workers of Livnica will gather in order to express their demands. They will be supported by the Metal Workers Syndicate and the BiH Syndicate. It was announced that management of the Energoinvest would also be presented. Banovici

A report on the workers from the Vranica branch in Banovici. They ask their salaries for the last 15 months to be paid. Workers accuse the management for such a bad situation. Also, the authorities in the Tuzla and Sarajevo cantons do not want to take responsibility for them. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Amir Hadziahmetovic.

Tuzla

This was followed by an interview with the President of the Tuzla Canton and Professor of the Tuzla University, Izet Zigic. OBN presenter, Aleksandar Mlac, asked Izet Zigic who was responsible for the workers on strike and whether he could help them to solve their problems? Mr. Zigic said that the management of the companies was responsible for the bad situation in those companies and the lack of the legislature in the state. He added that he would talk to the workers on strike and try to help them. On the second question, asked by the OBN presenter, Duska Jurisic, how he intended to solve the problem of election of the Minister of Refugees in the Tuzla Government and improve the functioning of the Canton Assembly, the President answered that the functioning of the assembly was not a problem. The representatives could not agree on the election of the Minister of Refugees because this was an important position and many candidates were interested in that.

Kopaci – Gorazde

A month ago, the High Representative in BiH, Wolfgang Petritsch, dismissed the Head of the Srpsko Gorazde Municipality, Slavko Topalovic. After that, a considerable number of Bosniaks, 270, received decisions on return and some guarantees that they would be implemented. However, none of the decisions was implemented. Currently, the returnees wait in tents in Kopaci. The BiH Federation Prime minister, Edhem Bicakcic, visited Kopaci. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic.

A report on the appointment of the new head of the regional office of the OHR in Mostar, as from January 10th, followed.

Sarajevo

A piece on the Clinical Center in Sarajevo which postponed the negotiations with a Switzerland foundation about 750 free heart operations for the BiH citizens. The project is worth 2,5 million DEM. However, the contract about donation was not signed because the Clinical Center in Sarajevo made some additional conditions. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic.

World

A piece on the current situation in Croatia was presented. The Acting President, Vlatko Pavletic, announced that he would offer the mandate for the assembling of the Croatian Government to the President of the Social-Democratic Party, Ivica Racan. The USA Embassy in announced that the USA would not give priority to any of the candidates for the President of Croatia. This was the reply on some media speculations that USA was supporting the nomination of the HDZ candidate, Mate Granic. Reports on Chechenia, Indonesia, the Middle East and Bethlehem followed. The report on current events in the world was presented by OBN journalist, Zeljka Lekic. This was followed by an analysis on the civil war in Shri Lanka which lasts for fifteen years. Banja Luka

A piece on the Orthodox Christmas in BiH. Several thousand people gathered this morning in Banja Luka in order to celebrate the event. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Dragan Stanimirovic.

Sarajevo

This was followed by a report on the celebration of the Christmas in Sarajevo, produced by OBN reporter, Sevko Bajic.

Bajram message send by the Head of the Muslim religious community in BiH, Reisu-l-ulema, Mustafa efendija Ceric, was presented. Muslims will begin to celebrate Bajram on January 8th, after the holy month Ramadan.

Mrkonjic Grad

A piece on two villages in the Mrkonjic Grad municipality. In one village live Bosniaks, in another Serbs. They wished each others marry Christmas and Bajram. OBN reporter from the area, Milorad Milojevic, produced the report.
