Cyclone in India

Strong cyclone struck India. Several thousand houses were destroyed and several hundred of people killed. The Indian Army is helping the citizens. The exact number of casualties is still not known. The report was produced by OBN journalist, Gordana Frimel.

Banja Luka

The High Representative in BiH, Wolfgang Petritsch, visited Director and the Editor-in-chief of the “Nezavisne novine” daily, Zeljko Kopanja, in a Banja Luka hospital. Zeljko Kopanja was severely wounded in a terrorist attack a few days ago. The High Representative offered a help to to the injured journalist. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the town, Darko Savic.

This was followed by a report on the finalising of the first part of the eighth, regular session of the RS National Assembly. OBN reporter from the town, Sanela Zivkovic, confirmed that during the two day session, the representatives adopted two laws. The first law refers to the rights of soldiers, war invalids and their families, while the second one regulates rights of refugees and displaced persons.

Sarajevo

Council of Bosniak Intellectuals held its regular meeting today. The topic of the meeting was “Bosniaks in the Scandinavian Countries”. More than 95 thousand refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina currently live in Scandinavia. Although their life standard is good, most of the refugees want to return to their pre-war homes. World

Russian military planes continued bombing the Chechen capital, Grozny. Approximately one hundred Chechen soldiers were killed in the strikes. This was followed by reports on the departure of Indonesian troops from East Timor, atmosphere before tomorrow’s elections in Macedonia and voting in the Albanian Parliament on the new Government. Reports on the EU and fire in South Korea followed. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Gordana Frimel.

Mostar

A piece on the pray for 104 killed Bosniaks in the Gacko Municipality whose remains had been found on the several locations in the municipality over last two months. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Alisa Dzebo.

Srebrenica

The Vice President of the current Srebrenica municipality authorities, Dragan Jeftic, said for OBN, that the RS Interior Ministry could announce results of investigation of the recent attack on the Municipal Secretary, Munib Hasanovic, as soon as next week. The report on the current situation regarding the issue was produced by OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic.

Sarajevo

Representatives of the World Bank Mission in BiH presented the new program of their activities. Although they did not specify how much money they would invest in the further reconstruction of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they emphasised their aim was to establish stable economy. Banja Luka

Cigarettes worth 100,000 DEM have been confiscated in the action “Stop Smuggling” in a village near Banja Luka. OBN crew from Banja Luka and the reporter, Tatjana Lajsic, visited the site.

Zenica

A piece on the round table meeting held in Zenica today and financed by the USAID. The topic of the conversation was “Corruption in BiH”, OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic, confirmed.

Dubrovnik

A piece on the book “The Croatian Border on Klek”. The book was presented on Thursday in Dubrovnik. The book highlights the issue of the border between BiH and Croatian on the Klek Peninsula. OBN reporter, Mujo Delibegovic, discussed with the Republic of Croatia Head of the Dubrovnik-Neretva Canton, Ivan Sprlje, about the border crossing, Ivanica. The book denies the current agreement on the borders between the two states.

BiH Miss

The competition for the BiH Miss for the Miss of the World was held last night in the Holiday Inn Hotel in Sarajevo. The BiH Miss was the guest of TV INFO.
