Brussels

The Managing Board of the Council for the Implementation of Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomed the New York Declaration and the Agreement on the border service. The Board supported the OHR plan for the implementation of legislation regarding property relations and strengthening of media. The participants also welcomed yesterday’s decision of the OHR and OSCE on the dismissal of 22 municipality officials in BiH, Zekerijah Smajic confirmed from Brussels for TV INFO. The High Representative in BiH, Wolfgang Petritsch, said if the dismissed officials rejected leaving their positions, the OHR would not use force but the method of isolation.

Sarajevo

First reactions to the dismissal of 22 officials in BiH started coming to the OHR and OSCE. Advisors of the BiH Presidency members presented comments on yesterday’s decision of the High Representative. Croat and Serb representatives in the BiH Presidency said that the decision was not reached in a democratic way. Advisor of the Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency said that they supported the decision regarding the dismissal of those who were obstructing the Dayton Peace Agreement. However, they did not support the decision on dismissal of the Una-Sana Canton Governor, Mirsad Veladzic. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic.

This was followed by a report on the recently reached decision of the Provisional Election Commission that all those who live in other peoples’ apartments can not be candidates for the forthcoming municipality elections in BiH. Currently, the OSCE has been producing lists for the elections and the deadline for this is December 20th. A deadline for the registration of voters in the country and out of it, for the municipality elections scheduled for April 8th 2000, expires tonight at midnight. Ljubljana

The International Conference on the constitutional and legal aspects of the Stability Pact in South East Europe was finished in Brdo, near Kranj, today. The participants of the Conference discussed concrete projects which should encourage regional cooperation in different fields. The report for TV INFO was produced by Tomaz Gerden from Ljubljana.

Sarajevo

The International expert team of the Stability Pact examined whether there was a possibility for Sarajevo to become a headquarters for the subcommittee for security. The discussion on the issue was held between the BiH Federation Minister of Internal Affairs, Mehmed Zilic, and the President of the Sub-department for judiciary and internal affairs of the Stability Pact. There were no official statements. However, whether BiH would become one of four work tables will be announced in January next year. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Sanjin Beciragic.

A report on a mass grave with more than 100 bodies discovered in Mexico. The victims were killed by the drug mafia. This was followed by a report on the continuation of fights in Chechenia. Again, Russia rejected an offer to accept a Western envoy for the negotiations with the Chechens. Reports on current events in the USA and Afganistan followed. Sarajevo

A piece on the session of the BiH Federation Parliament Representative House. The session was interrupted because an insufficient number of representatives attended the session. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic.

Because of the same reason, lack of representatives, the BiH Parliament House of Peoples did not even begin its session scheduled for today, OBN reporter, Bakir Hadziomerovic, confirmed. The session was postponed for Friday.

Banja Luka

Workers of the “Incel” factory, who have been on strike for 15 days in a row, set a deadline to the RS Government and the management to solve their six requests by tomorrow. Several hundred workers protested in front of the RS Government building for the fourth time. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Banja Luka, Biljana Arsic.

Doboj

A piece on the problems of returnees to the Sevarlije village in the Doboj area, caused by land mines. They hope that the reconstruction process will intensify by spring. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Muhamed Cabric.

Sarajevo

Today, the Head of the UN Mission in BiH, Jacques Klein, handed over a check for 50,000 dollars to the Clinic for obstetrics and gynecology in Sarajevo. The UN General Secretary promised the support during his visit to Sarajevo on October 12th, when the six billionth world baby was born at the Clinic. Today, Sarajevo newspapers “Vecernje novine” presented a story where it was said that Sarajevo was threatened with plague and typhus epidemics. An OBN crew visited the research center at the Sarajevo University. Doctor Adnan Jazic said that the interpretation of “Vecernje novine” journalist was wrong.
