Banja Luka

A general strike was organised in the RS today. The RS Union representatives met the Chairman of the RS Parliament, Petar Dokic and presented workers’ requests to him. Eight unions, who were against the strike, met the RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik. They feel that the strike can damage the RS economy. Reported by Biljana Arsic and Sanja Srdic.

The RS Parliament continued discussion about the RS Government’s work. Dragan Cavic accused the Government of illegal spending of large amounts of money from the state budget. “The Government did everything it could. I will reconsider my further participation in the Parliament’s work”, the RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik said. The Parliament’s discussion will continue. The report was produced by Tatjana Lajsic.

For 2,5 years, employees of “Agrokomerc” have received coupons instead of their salaries. Twelve employees were fired because they demanded payment of their salaries in cash. The Union didn’t react, although the employees informed them about this. OBN reporter Amarildo Gutic produced the report.

Rescue teams are still searching for survivors, after yesterday’s sinking of the boat on the Pacific Ocean.

The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair and the German Chancellor, Helmut Kohl met in Berlin. They discussed the possibility of joining of Britain in the European currency system.

The FRY Government withdrew the proposed Law against terrorism.

Croatia lost $7,5 – $19 billion during Tudman’s mandate, said the Croatian Deputy Minister of Finance, Josip Kardun. Zeljka Lekic produced the piece on world events.

Mostar

The HDZ delegation from Croatia arrived in a three-day visit to the B&H HDZ. Party leaders, Ante Jelavic and Ivo Sanader announced signing of an agreement on special relations between the parties. Blazica Kristo produced the report.

The American Embassy condemned the statement of the Association of fighters in Srebrenica, where they said that nobody was killed in Potocari, in July 1995.

Sarajevo

The newly appointed authorities in the Novi Grad municipality provided conditions for return of 147 refugee families. The Head of the Municipality, Damir Hadzic claims that the Sarajevo Canton is faced with a collapse. “The situation is more complicated, because the financial means that were planned for reconstruction were distributed as salaries for health workers”, Hadzic added. OBN reporter Anes Alic produced a piece on problems of public transport companies. Their Association accused private companies of taking away jobs from them by illegal competition. One of their problems is an old equipment. All vehicles are at least 10 years old.

Travnik

The Federal Minister Ahmed Smajic and the director of Bosnian-Austrian company “Alpina BH”, Muhamed Mesanovic signed a contract on 50-year-concession for exploitation of the spring “Plava Voda” today. After today’s signing, the construction of regional water supply system can begin. The project is DM 80 million worth. Reported by Vanja Elezovic.

Pensioners in the RS are in a very difficult situation. They haven’t received their pensions for months. One of their problems is that they don’t have a health insurance provided. Reported by Suzana Vukcevic.

Visegrad

More than 20 young people met in a Youth Camp between Gorazde and Visegrad, in order to remove barriers between people in B&H. UNDP and several other NGO’s helped the project. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.
