Zagreb
The President of the Croatian Parliament, Vlatko Pavletic, who according to yesterday’s decision of the Constitutional Court, replaced President Franjo Tudjman, announced today that the parliamentary elections in Croatia will be held on January 3rd 2000. Sarajevo
By the end of 2000, the transformation of the BiH payment operations system will be implemented. This job should be done by commercial banks although they were not too trustworthy, said the Governor of the Cental Bank, Peter Nicholl. The Agency for Banking will determine the criteria for getting a licence for internal payment operations. The Governor explained for TV INFO some of the positions regarding the issue and plans of the Central Bank on how to make the KM stronger. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic.
Banja Luka

Sarajevo
Although there are some 200 associations for the return of refugees, achieved results have been poor. Since the Dayton Peace Agreement was signed, only 9% of those expelled during the war returned to their pre-war homes. The biggest number of returnees have benn recorded in the Sarajevo Canton, with some 29,000 returnees. This is one third of all returnees in BiH. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Anes Alic.
Construction of Apartments in BiH
A piece on the construction of new apartments in BiH. Construction price for a new apartment in BiH costs from 800 to 1,600 DEM per square metre.
In addition to that, a buyer in the BiH Federation also has to pay tax of 15%. Main reasons why so small number of apartments have been built in the Federation are high prices, tax and lack of credits, OBN reporter, Adis Saranovic, confirmed.
Zenica
This was followed by a report on the reconstruction of fourteen apartments in Zenica for the employees of the steel factory who needed accommodation. The funds for the reconstruction of the apartments, owned by the steel factory, were provided by the German humanitarian organisation “Pax Christi”. Slatina (Banja Luka)
A piece on humanitarian aid of the Italian humanitarian organisation “Italiana Coperatione” for 39 families in a refugee center in Slatina near Banja Luka. One hundred and five people, who have been in a very difficult situation, received help in medicines, food and heating. The report was produced by OBN reporter from Banja Luka, Milorad Milojevic.
Cazin A few months ago, an association of citizens, “Equality”, was established in Cazin. The aim of it was to create conditions for the improvement of respect for human rights in the area. Today, the Association held a round table meeting with representatives of the Tuzla Citizens Association, in order to find answers to some human rights’ issues. Prijedor
