Sarajevo

The first concession contract for the construction of the first highway in BiH was signed today. The French company “Bouygues” will construct the part of the highway between Sarajevo and Zenica. The company presented the best offer out of seven companies which applied for the tender. “Bouygues” will invest 20% of their own funds and the rest will be provided through credit lines. The project is worth 600 million DEM. The Project Manager, Oliver Bonnin, said: “We have already committed that 70% of sub-contracts would be signed with BiH companies”. The RS Government gave their consent for the construction of the highway through the RS. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Amarildo Gutic.

Mostar

The Office of the High Representative sent an official request to the Headquarters of SFOR for the support in implementation of the decision on stopping of Mostar TV Erotel broadcast. The Office of the High Representative and the Independent Media Commission continued their negotiations with the TV Erotel management in order to solve the issue without SFOR intervention, OBN reporter from Mostar, Pejo Gasparevic, confirmed.

Croatia

Today, the President of the Croatian Parliament, Vlatko Pavletic, officially took over authorities of the President Franjo Tudjman. The President was proclaimed temporarily unable to perform his duties. The Presidency of the HDZ party will suggest to Vlatko Pavletic to organise elections for the Representative House of the Parliament on January 3rd. The Hague

A piece on why did the Hague Tribunal Prosecutor ask the life in prison sentence for Goran Jelisic, proclaimed guilty for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the Tribunal. The defence thought that short sentence would not be appropriate but that Jelisic did not deserved to be sentenced to life in prison. Judges announced they would reach a decision on the sentence on December 15th. The report for OBN from the Hague was produced by Vjera Bogoti.

Serbia

Mayor of the Serbian town Cacak and the head of the political party “New Serbia”, Velimir Ilic, was oppressed by the Serbian authorities during the NATO strikes. Velimir Ilic was accusing Milosevic’s regime for difficult situation in Serbia. TV INFO brings an interesting part of the interview with Velimir Ilic and his opinion regarding Serbian opposition parties. This was followed by a report on Belgrade newspapers’ reports on the arrest of members of the French Intelligent Service, allegedly members of the group called “Spider”, which planned assassination on the Yugoslav President Milosevic. The French Government denied this.

World

A piece on the continuation of Russian strikes against Chechenia and severest attacks against its capital Grozny since the beginning of the Russian offensive. The Russian Prime Minister announced that the deadline for ending of military operations in Chechenia had not been determined. This was followed by reports on current events in Turkey, Indonesia, Kashmir and Nigeria. The report was produced by OBN journalist, Mladen Maric.

Brcko

The International Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, will announce the final version of the District Statute on December 7th. This will be the beginning of the current three municipalities integration into the Brcko District and the start-up of the district provisional government establishment. The Commander of SFOR, General Ronald Adams, gave commands for the demilitarisation of Brcko. The report was produced by OBN journalist Zeljka Lekic.

Sarajevo

Individuals who illegally use other people’s apartment will not be allowed to candidate for the forthcoming local elections in BiH. This decision of the Provisional Election Commission explained the OSCE Spokesman, Alexander Nitzsche. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Vedran Persic.

Tuzla

Gornja Tuzla had a status of a municipality 40 years ago. Now, a group of citizens want to re-establish the status. The claim that the current Tuzla Municipality neglect this part regarding the economic development. The report was produced by OBN reporter, Damir Kaletovic.

Banja Luka

A piece on elementary schools in villages in the Banja Luka Municipality and the difficult situation they have been faced with. The schools lack teachers for there is no enough apartments for their accommodation and the infrastructure is also bad. The report was produced by OBN reporter from the area, Darko Savic.

TV Festival in Bar (Montenegro)

The fourth International TV Festival currently goes on in Bar in Montenegro. TV OBN presented its documentary movie “Gorstaci” (“Highlanders”) by Fahrudin Becic.
