The ICTY released Drazen Erdemovic, who was indicted of war crimes in Srebrenica. Erdemovic appeared before the Hague Tribunal today, as a witness in the trial of the General Radislav Krstic.

Lukavac

Emir and Semir Imamovic died in a mine explosion yesterday. Their friends Dino Imamovic and Jasmin Kisic were injured. The location where the tragedy took place was not a priority for de-mining. Reported by Sabina Dizdarevic.

Sarajevo

The B&H Presidency unanimously accepted the appointment of Spasoje Tusevljak as the new candidate for the Chairman of the Council of Ministers. Tusevljak is not a member of any party. This was the main reason for his appointment. The B&H Presidency adopted a joint statement, that will be presented before the Council of Europe in Brussels tomorrow. Reported by Damir Kaletovic.

This evening’s guest in TV INFO was Jadranko Prlic, the B&H Foreign Minister. As for the appointment of Mr Tusevljak, Prlic said that any solution would be better than the existing situation. The 6-month-mandate of the Council of Ministers should be used, in order to form new ministries and fulfil some obligations.

Mostar

The new Council of the City of Mostar, with a four-year-mandate, was formed today. The results of local elections in April have been implemented in this way. Mario Leko, the HDZ member has been appointed as the Chairman of the Council. His deputy is Milan Jovicic, a member of the “Union for Unique and Democratic B&H”. The Mayor of Mostar will be Safet Orucevic. The HDZ candidate, Neven Tomic was appointed as his deputy. Reported by Alisa Dzebo from Mostar.

The new Deputy Mayor, Neven Tomic has the HDZ’s support, Prlic said.

“I think that most Croats and Bosniacs in Mostar support him, too”, he added. As for the declaration that was signed at the Conference on development and security of the Adriatic and Ionian Sea which took place in Ancona, Prlic said that this will provide space for co-operation, and countries of the region will be able to overcome the large existing mutual differences.

On the occasion of tomorrow’s session of the Council for peace implementation, the British Foreign Minister, Robin Cook said that 5 years after signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, no real progress has been made in B&H. The B&H people deserve leaders who will work for their well-being, and not to be used by the privileged “jet-set” and corrupted political parties, Cook added.

Mr Prlic said that he agrees with his British counterpart. “I expect that the Council will discuss three issues: economic reforms, refugee return and functioning of joint institutions in B&H”, Prlic added.

Sarajevo

The Head of the OSCE mission in B&H, Robert Barry organised a press conference today, before his departure to Brussels. “The forthcoming general elections can strengthen B&H”, Barry said. “The OSCE is mostly worried about the registration process”, he added. 10th July is the deadline for registration of voters in B&H. Ambassador Barry once again asked the B&H authorities to help cover the election costs. Reported by Vedran Persic.

The greatest mass trial in FRY for 143 Kosovo Albanians was completed today in Nis. They were found guilty of terrorism during the NATO air strikes in Kosovo.

EU officials started a meeting in Brussels, where they condemned the closing of the independent media in Serbia. The EU will grant EURO 2,5 million aid for the independent media in Serbia.

Ethiopian forces are only 100 km away from the capital of Eritrea. The USA started evacuation of their citizens from Eritrea.

The President of Fiji announced the possible replacement of the current Government.

Banja Luka

The Council of the City of Banja Luka hasn’t been appointed yet. According to unofficial announcements, the Banja Luka city authorities should be formed by 13th June. Reported by Nedeljka Breberina.

Sarajevo

New authorities in Sarajevo municipalities Stari Grad and Novo Sarajevo have been formed. Novo Sarajevo is the only municipality in this Canton that doesn’t have a defined and adopted budget for this year. Reported by Sanjin Beciragic and Amarildo Gutic.

Banja Luka

Registration of citizens for privatisation in the RS was completed. 99,9% citizens have been registered. Reported by Sanela Zivkovic.
