The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, attended a session of “Circle 99”. He said that the most important element for the refugee return was economic reconstruction. As the priority of the international community, Petrich also underlined the strengthening of the central institutions. The session of European Parliament starts tomorrow in Strasbourg. The main issues of the agenda will be the Cechenia conflict and education in B&H. The report was produced by OBN reporter Vedran Persic.

Ljubljana

The main prosecutor of the ICTY, Karla Del Ponte, will arrive to Slovenia for the official visit. She said that some of the indicted war criminals invested their property in Slovenia, which they acquired during the war. Karla Del Ponte will meet the former General in the former JNA, Konrad Kovsek. Reported by Aleksandar Mlac from Ljubljana.

World

The Kosovo Serbs stopped their 6-month-boycot of Kosovo Institutions. They decided to participate in the new transitional administrative council of Kosovo as the observers.

The UN Commissioner for Human Rights, Mary Robinson, arrived to Grozny. According to the BBC, she talked to the war prisoners and civilians. She announced the investigation on Russian crimes and violation of human rights in Cechenia.

Turkish troops arrived to north Iraq. About 7000 soldiers went to Iraq, in order to take over the saddles that had been used by the Labour Party forces from Kurdistan. The piece on world events was produced by OBN journalist Zeljka Lekic.

Banja Luka

Many people in the RS are not satisfied with the work of “Telekom”. Police visited “Telekom” and took everything that the prosecution asked for. The Deputy Director of “Telekom”, Mile Bajalica, claims that there were no irregularities in “Telekom”. Reported by Milena Letic-Joves.

Sarajevo

The Croatian Members of the Federation Government refused to talk about the general collective contract of the B&H Union on a session on the 2nd of March. Therefore, the B&H Union announced the strike on 17th April. They insist on signing the general collective contract until the 6th of April. If the Government does not resolve this issue, the B&H Union will organise a strike. The report was produced by OBN reporter Mirna Sadikovic.

The privatisation process in the Federation of B&H turned into a battle for real estates. The private owners buy enterprises with real estates, and they obviously don’t intend to continue the business. The provision on obligation to keep the employees protects the rights of the employees. The employees can report a new owner to the Agency. Reported by Amarildo Gutic.

Banja Luka

The RS pensioners are in a very difficult situation. Their association requests a new law on pension insurance. The pensions for December were DM160, and the average salary was DM 272. The Association claims that the law from 1993 has many drawbacks and should be changed. The issue of the health care has not been solved yet. Reported by Darko Savic.

“Merhamet” organised the action of free medical help to the citizens of Banja Luka. The action will continue in other towns in the RS after the elections. The report was produced by Sanja Srdic.

After several years of writing in Cyrillic, the citizens in the RS now write in Latin letters as well, although their official Letter, according to the Constitution, is Cyrillic. According to the Law, the religious communities, national and education associations, minorities and foreign embassies in RS can use both letters. Reported by Suzana Vukcevic.
