Sarajevo

The first group of B&H policemen went to East Timor today, where they should join the UN mission. This is the first time that B&H participates in an international mission. Now we are returning our debt to the international community, said the B&H Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic. The report was produced by OBN journalist Vedran Persic.

The IMF regular spring session is taking place in Washington. Police arrested about 600 protesters against globalisation.

According to the Russian Internal Ministry, Cechenian forces attacked Russian positions on 7 locations.

Great Britain sent a protest letter to Zimbabwe Ambassador in London, because of the eviction of white farmers from their properties. In an attack on a farm, its owner was killed yesterday.

The Iraq Government said that they won’t be affected by the plan on inspection of weapons which was approved by the UN Security Council, because Baghdad didn’t recognise the UN Security Council resolution on foundation of the Inspection Board.

About 40 million citizens voted at the regional elections in Italy today.

Banja Luka

After the local elections in B&H, several new parties were founded in the RS. The SDS announced new coalitions, claiming that the party has a majority in the Parliament. Reported by Suzana Vukcevic from Banja Luka.

Sarajevo

The signing of the General Collective Contract between the Federation Prime Minister, Edhem Bicakcic and the B&H Union President, Sulejman Hrle, might cause national divisions between workers in the Federation of B&H. Departments for control of the police work were formed in 1998. They received 62 citizens’ complaints during this year. About 50% complaints were justified. These departments are obliged to consider each complaint. The report was produced by Danijela Bozic.

Prijedor

More than 150 Bosniacs returned to Cela, a village 10km from Prijedor. They constructed a camp from tents that they received from the UNHCR. They cannot move in their houses, because local Serbs have no intention to go back to their homes in the Federation of B&H. Reported by Milena Letic-Joves from Prijedor.

Sapna

Serb refugees are more and more interested in return to the area of the Canton Tuzla. They returned to a few villages, but the main obstacle for the massive return is the lack of financial means. Reported by Muhamed Berbic from Tuzla.

Bijeljina

We are satisfied by the process of return of Bosniacs in Bijeljina at the moment, said Enver Sutkovic, the Democratic Bosniac Council President in Bijeljina. The report was produced by Jelena Lazic.

4 years after the end of the war, B&H doesn’t have any youth hostels. Young people from all around the world would like to visit B&H, but hotel prices are too high for them. No one invested in reconstruction of pre-war youth hostels. Reported by Slobodan Maksimovic.
