Foca

The Indicted war criminal, Janko Janjic committed suicide in Foca by activating a bomb, while SFOR was trying to arrest him. 4 SFOR soldiers have been injured in the explosion. Reported by Vedran Persic.

Zepa

90 Bosniac victims have been exhumed near Foca. According to witnesses, they were killed in Visegrad in 1992. The exhumation should be completed by the end of the year, Anes Alic reported.

Jerusalem

Clashes between Israelis and Palestinians continue. The British Foreign Minister, Robin Cook met the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. The US President, Bill Clinton, the Egyptian President and the King of Jordan started a joint diplomatic activity, in order to organise continuation of the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. Zeljka Lekic produced the report.

Sarajevo

Palestinians in Sarajevo peacefully demonstrated against violence of Israelis over Palestinian people, Vedran Persic reported.

New Israeli-Palestinian clashes in the Near East are very serious, and the result could be another war. Mladen Maric analysed the situation.

World

The Yugoslav democratic opposition and the SPS scheduled parliamentary elections on 24th December. The Yugoslav President, Vojislav Kostunica met representatives of the Montenegrin socialists (SNP) in Belgrade. According to SNP, Kostunica confirmed that a new Prime Minister would be a SNP member.

The EC President, Romano Prodi announced allocation of Euro 200 million of aid for Serbia. The decision will be officially confirmed next week.

Several thousands of Albanians demonstrated in Pristina, demanding release of all Albanians from Serbian prisons.

An explosion took place in the British Embassy in Yemen last night. No one was injured.

The USA demanded immediate release of 5 Americans, who were kidnapped in Ecuador yesterday.

The President of South Korea won a Nobel Prize for Peace. Gordana Frimel and Zeljka Lekic produced the report.

The B&H Parliament House of Peoples organised a session today. They discussed list of conditions for B&H membership of the Council of Europe and several issues. Reported by Vanja Elezovic.

The RS Union of Energy met the RS Prime Minister, Milorad Dodik today. The Union demanded that the RS Government solves problems of RS “Elektroprivreda”, Tatjana Lajsic reported.

Sarajevo

As OBN has already reported, Austrian team of doctors cancelled the project of free heart operations in the Sarajevo Clinical Centre, due to misunderstandings with the Head of the Surgery Department, Dr. Ismet Pezo. Lives of several people have been endangered as the result, Amarildo Gutic reported.

The International Symposium “Dilemmas in cardiology and surgery” started in Mostar today. Experts from B&H, Croatia, Slovenia, Russia and the USA will address the symposium, Senada Malanovic reported.

HDZ B&H announced a possibility to boycott elections and organise referendum on status of Croats in B&H, if the Temporary Election Commission does not change the decision on a new way of formation of the Federal Parliament House of Peoples. According to the Head of the OSCE Mission, Robert Barry the decision will not be changed. Reported by Mirsad Behram.
