There were not many people in “Vrelo Bosna” today, at the regular annual celebration of the 1st May. The B&H Union organised protest there today. They demanded implementation of the signed General Collective Contract. The report was produced by OBN reporter Anes Alic.

Banja Luka

A large number of Banja Luka citizens went out today and marked the 1st May. There was not too much enthusiasm among pensioners and workers, because of their difficult situation. “I hope that workers’ situation will improve soon, and that we will celebrate the next 1st May in a proper way”, said Cedo Volas, the RS Union President. Citizens of Banja Luka feel that only religious holidays should be celebrated in the RS. Igor Pozgaj made a vox- pop for OBN in the streets of Banja Luka.

12 policemen and several demonstrators were injured in clashes between the police and demonstrators in Hamburg, Germany.

Israel decided to relinquish three villages near Jerusalem, and give them over to Palestinians.

The ICTY Main Prosecutor, Carla Del Ponte demanded NATO to participate more actively in arrests of the indicted war criminals. “Arrest of the indicted war criminals is a very important process, and we cannot talk about it publicly”, said Rudolph Scharping, the German Defence Minister. “If we see the indicted war criminals, we will arrest them”, said Major Yvon Desjardins, the SFOR Spokesman. OBN journalist Vedran Persic produced the report.

Trnopolje

More than 40 families returned to Trnopolje, 9 km from Prijedor. They cannot move into their houses, because they are either devastated or the Serb refugees live in them. The returnees decided to wait for help from the international community. Reported by Milena Letic-Joves.

The SOS, Service for helping the children-violence victims has worked for a month. They received 63 calls so far. Their phone number is 220 000. OBN reporter Meliha Hasanbegovic produced the report.

Mostar

Deans from medical faculties around the world gathered in Mostar today, in order to discuss the current medical situation in B&H. One of the themes was co-operation between B&H and world medical faculties, Blazica Kristo confirmed.

Olovo

Thousands of Catholics visited the famous Sanctuary in Olovo. These visits have been regular in the last five years. The B&H Cardinal, Vinko Puljic performed the Mass there today. Ana Drmac produced the report.
