The OHR, OSCE and UNMIBH welcome the decision of the Bijeljina District Court to accept the appeal by the defendants in the Zvornik 7 case for a new trial and the Court’s decision to annul the original verdict by the Basic Court in Zvornik.
The new trial will be before the Bijeljina District Court, which is, following the restructuring of the courts, the court of first instance in cases carrying a penalty of 15 years or more.
The decision was registered in the Bijeljina District Court on 22 January 1998. We are reviewing the decision and will have further comments in the next few days.
