Sarajevo

Tuzla

The leading SDP held a press conference in Tuzla today. The Chairman of the SDP Board said that a coalition with other parties is possible, but not with national parties or the Party for B&H. The report was produced by Dusan Micevic.

Sarajevo

The Leader of the Party for B&H, Haris Silajdzic, feels that the changes in the Federation of B&H might not have great influence, considering that the national parties SDS and HDZ won the elections in other parts of the country. At today’s press conference, Silajdzic mentioned the possibility of coalition with other parties that have similar political aims. Reported by Slobodan Maksimovic.

Banja Luka

34 parties participated in the elections in Banja Luka. 20 parties won less than 200 votes. Communists are among them. Their members are surprised, because the Communist Party has more than 900 members in Banja Luka. Reported by Biljana Arsic.

Since 8th April, the new Law on local self-management has been in force. This should enable citizens to participate more in making decisions. According to the Law, municipalities should finance themselves from their own sources. The report was produced by Darko Savic.

This evenings guest in TV INFO was James Lyon, the Head of the ICG. He marked the changes in towns with a Bosniac majority as very positive, which show us that these people are ready for democratisation. Local authorities didn’t have much power so far, said Lyon. The situation will be more convenient for the general elections in October, he added.

Luxembourg

The EU foreign ministers met in Luxembourg today. The main theme was Russia, but also the Balkan countries. They emphasised the importance of compliance with the Dayton Peace Agreement in B&H. The Croatian Chamber of Commerce delegation visited Sarajevo today. They met with the B&H Chamber of Commerce representative, and discussed the issue of trade co-operation and ratification of the trade agreement between the two countries.
