Remarks by Senior Deputy HR Werner Wnendt at a Centre for the Promotion of Civil Society Conference on NGO Effectiveness
It is a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to address you at this event, which is important for the future development of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are here today to analysze and build on the significant achievements made by the non-governmental sector in recent years.

Remarks by Principal Deputy HR Donald Hays at a Conference on BiH Infrastructure
I am particularly pleased to be here, for two reasons
The first is that we are here at BH Steel. This is a company that has been through a great deal – as has (we shouldn’t forget) every steel company in the world over the last 15 years – but which now has the prospect of turning its fortunes around. It can do this through a combination of B [...]

Speech by Principal Deputy HR Donald Hays on “Post-Conflict Reconstruction: The Case of BiH” at the George C. Marshall Centre
This is an appropriate forum at which to talk about Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because the experience of BiH in the nine years since Dayton offers a modern paradigm for post-conflict reconstruction, half a century after the Marshall Plan launched Europe into the longest sustained period of economic growth in history.

Remarks by Deputy High Representative Patrice Dreiski at a Ceremony to Mark the State Veterinary Office’s Assumption of Responsibility for Border Inspections
Today’s ceremony is a major step forward in establishing a reliable veterinary system as a core element in a coherent BiH trade policy.
This is a prerequisite for tackling the balance of payments deficit (and a commitment given by the authorities as part of the government’s Action Plan)
Establishing efficient, European-standard border [...]

Speech by High Representative, Paddy Ashdown at the Press Conference on Judicial Reform
I would like to begin by thanking Judge Surlien for the IJC Final Report and for her remarkable diligence and dedication during her time as Director of the IJC.
It is clear that without her vision, foresight and dedication the mandate of the IJC would not have been completed so successfully.
I would also like to thank all of you gat [...]

Speech by Senior Deputy High Representative Werner Wnendt at a Conference on Institutional Communication
In 2003 the BiH government and the International Community entered into a partnership to reform public administration in BiH. The BiH government pledged at the Peace Implementation Council to make this reform one of its highest priorities.
These reforms are necessary because public administration in BiH is outdated and inefficient.

Remarks by Deputy High Representative Patrice Dreiski at a Regional Conference on Development Projects
It is my great pleasure to represent the Office of the High Representative and to support this event. I am particularly pleased to have an opportunity to participate in this discussion about water and ecology because the topic still receives insufficient public attention in this country and in BiH’s neighborhood.

Speech by High Representative and European Union Special Representative, Paddy Ashdown at the Oxford Centre of Islamic Studies
The metaphor of the bridge is one of the most potent in the political lexicon. It acknowledges the fact of division and partition, whilst simultaneously proposing a means of connection and resolution.
Four months ago, at the re-opening of one of the world’s most famous bridges – the Old Bridge that links the two sides of the divided city of [...]
