RT RS News Summary:

US will continue to cooperate with legitimate RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik – Miller (01:06) US Ambassador to BiH Thomas Miller stated in Banja Luka that the United States would continue to cooperate with Milorad Dodik as the legitimate RS Prime Minister. Miller added that the RS National Assembly had the right to vote non-confidence in the Government, but that the Assembly was also attempting to deprive the Government of its executive authority. The Ambassador declined to comment on the legality of the Assembly’s decision. Miller maintained that a more competent authority should give its judgement on the non-confidence vote. The Ambassador said National Assembly Speaker Petar Djokic assured him a month ago that legislative authorities would work on economic issues for the people’s benefit and rise above petty political games. He assessed that the RS National Assembly actually did do so for one session, but after that returned to politics, as usual.

RS National Assembly decision is legitimate – PDP President Mladen Ivanic

00:20 PDP President Mladen Ivanic told US Ambassador to BiH Thomas Miller the PDP’s position is that the RS National Assembly decision to dismiss the Government is legitimate and should be accepted. Ivanic added that this decision would not provoke more serious consequences because the Government should continue conducting its regular duties.

Miller demands process of issuing permits for construction of Ferhadija Mosque to be sped up (00:57) US Ambassador to BiH Thomas Miller demanded from Banja Luka Mayor Dragoljub Davidovic to accelerate the process of issuing permits for the construction of Banja Luka’s Ferhadija mosque. Miller said the Islamic Religious Community (IRC) submitted a construction application for Ferhadija on 3 March 1997. Davidovic told Miller that the Banja Luka City Administration is processing the application, which has to undergo the routine legal procedure. When asked whether the IRC had submitted all necessary documents, Davidovic said that the administration received only the application and that the remaining documents will be submitted when it becomes necessary. Miller stated that the United States is interested in the construction of Ferhadija mosque, and added that religious buildings should not be treated as part of politics. He announced assistance to the Serb Orthodox Church and returnees regardless of their religious background
