US President Clinton sent his greetings to the BiH President Izetbegovic on the occasion of the BiH day of Independence, on March 1. UN Secretary General, Annan also sent his greetings to Izetbegovic as well as the President of Iran, the Queen of Great Britain, the Queen of Belgium, and the Bulgarian President, Stojanov.

The new Ambassador of Chile conveyed the Letter of Appointment to the BiH President Izetbegovic. Ambassador of Republic of Slovakia also conveyed the Letter of Appointment to Izetbegovic. BiH Ambassador to Zagreb, Muratovic conveyed the Letter of Appointment to the Croatian President Tudjman.

The European Union also reacted on Tudjman’s speech stating that Tudjman’s comments are in discordance with Croatian international intentions and create serious doubts in Croatian recognition of BiH and its wish to accept Serb and Bosniak minorities as citizens with full rights.

US President Clinton praised Zaric’s surrender to the ICTY and appealed on all other war criminals to do the same. White House spokesman said that surrenders are a sign of dramatic progress in BiH which is a trend incited by Clinton’s visit from the end of last year.

Representatives of the ICTY made a search of official buildings in Banja Luka, in the Seat of the President and government of the RS. The purpose of the search is to obtain the documentation in regard with current trial procedures of ICTY. According to ‘SRNA’ the search was carried out in the police HQ and municipality building, and a witness said that the search was also carried out in the Presidential and Prime Minister building, as well as in the TV RS building.

Kragujevac (FRY) attorney, Lekovic stated for ‘BETA’ that he will suggest Slobodan Miljkovic – Lugar to surrender to the ICTY office in Belgrade, and plead on charges for war crimes in Bosanski Samac 1992. Miljkovic is the first on the ICTY list for crimes in Bosanski Samac.

BiH Ambassador to UN Sacirbegovic said that his information on Srebrenica prisoners in Sremska Mitrovica is only a registry. Sacirbegovic said that the fact is that some people are still alive. Sacirbegovic added that he would not like to claim something without enough evidence on the matter. BiH TV also brought a statement of an anonymous witness who confirmed that there are people in Sremska Mitrovica from Srebrenica, arrested in 1992, and called on international factors to do something about it. S. Mitrovica prison warden denied all claims about prisoners from Srebrenica saying that there has never been nor shall be any of them in Sremska Mitrovica prison, and said that the claim of Moslem Ambassador to UN is not true.

Islamic Bank Director, Mohammed-Ali met with BiH President Izetbegovic, CoM Co-chairman Silajdzic and Prime Minister Bicakcic. Mohammed-Ali expressed his support to BiH in its efforts to overcome the consequences of the war. It was decided that the support should be based on economic and bank relationship.

OHR spokesman Haselock refuted the claims of certain German papers who said that there was an inner conflict in the OHR. Westendorp’s standpoint is that he, as the HR, has the supreme authority in DPA, in accordance with Annex 10. In accordance with this authority, the HR names and approves the staff in the Office, and all of the current staff have his full support. Two deputies, Hanns Schumacher and Jacques Paul Klein also have his full support. Ambassador Klein is the first and Ambassador Schumacher the second deputy, and there is no arguing about this, said Haselock.
