Lukavac
Employees of the company “Soda” in Lukavac organised a strike, demanding their salaries and the replacement of the company management. Reported by Adis Nisic.
Miners from the coal mine “Nova Bila” are also on strike. Their representatives visited Sarajevo, demanding to meet federal officials. The Striking Board called miners to come to Sarajevo tomorrow and continue their strike there.
Banja Luka
Employees of the company “Incel” have also been on strike for several days, waiting for fulfilment of their demands. The report was produced by Biljana Arsic.
Washington
International and B&H officials testify before the Commission for Security and Co-operation in Europe about the future of B&H. Among others, Haris Silajdzic, Robert Barry, Wesley Clark and Selim Beslagic will address the Commission. Mr. Barry will also talk about the influence of corruption on B&H economy.
The Head of the UN Mission in B&H, Jacques Klein submitted his three-month-report to the Security Council. The UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan recommended prolongation of the UN mission in B&H until the 21st June 2001.
Mostar
The Catholic Church in Mostar placed a large cross on the hill “Hum”
in Mostar, marking the 2000th Anniversary of the birth of Christ. “The placement of the cross is the politisation of religion, and it doesn’t contribute the development of tollerance in this town”, said Avis Benes, the OHR Spokesperson. The report was produced by Denis Vila.
Srebrenica
About 3600 bodies were exhumated in the area of Srebrenica. The identification process is very slow. “The biggest mistake was that we gave up identification on the basis of personal belongings”, said Amor Masovic, the Chairman of the Commission for Searching the Missing Persons. “The Commission hasn’t received any results of the DNA analyses so far”, he added. Books with photographs of personal belongings of messing persons will be distributed to their families, in order to help the process of identification. Reported by Vedran Persic.

“The “CD Coalition” will not vote confidence in Milorad Dodik’s Government, mainly because of violation of ownership rights in the RS”, said Sulejman Tihic, the SDA Vice-President. “The ownership structure of towns is changed in this way”, Tihic added. The OHR has no information about cases of illegal renting of land for construction in the RS. OBN reporter, Sanjin Beciragic produced the report.
The Supreme Court in Banja Luka reached a decision according to which the legitimate SNS Chairman is Biljana Plavsic.

Representatives of the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture visited B&H. They met the Federal Minister of Agriculture. The conclusion was that the two countries should sign a contract on free trade. “Without the contract, it is impossible to work, and B&H agricultural producers cannot gain any profit from exporting their products in Croatia”, said Bozidar Pankretic, the Croatian Minister of Agriculture.
