The OHR deplores the car bombing in Sarajevo this morning, in which Federation Deputy Minister of Interior, Jozo Leutar, and two of his colleagues were badly injured. Mr Leutar’s condition is particularly critical.
The OHR calls on the local authorities to take aggressive measures to identify, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of this appalling crime.
In the interim, the OHR appeals to all parties to remain calm in the face of this unprovoked attack and assist the appropriate authorities in expeditiously completing the investigation.
The OHR is aware of Mr Leutar’s strong stance in the fight against corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wishes to pay tribute to his courage and leadership in that struggle.
The High Representative, Carlos Westendorp, as well as his deputies Jacques Paul Klein and Hanns Schumacher, have worked with Mr Leutar and are personally deeply shocked by the attack. Their thoughts and best wishes are with him, his colleagues and their families during this difficult time.
