PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Brcko Legal Reform Office is the agency that continues the relationship with the reformed judiciary and lawyers in the Brcko District. It meets with the Judicial Commission on invitation, observes the selection process of judges and court attorneys; arranges for and provides training for judges, attorneys and court personnel and provides opinions and advice to members of the international community regarding the process of judicial reform and the promotion of the rule of law. It serves as the coordinator for international assistance to judicial reform initiatives within the District.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Legal/Judicial Reform Officer will coordinate the implementation of programs and initiatives of the Legal Reform Office under the direction of the office head. He/she will monitor the performance of the judicial system through the gathering of statistics and other means as directed. He/she will maintain an oversight, for the purpose of advising, of the commissions and councils established to provide recommendations on the appointment, discipline, and review of judges, prosecutors and other appointed court personnel.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
· University degree (law degree preferred);
· At least one year experience in a legal or administrative function;
· Bi-lingual, Bosnian and English;
· Mature judgment and ability to work independently.
