OHR’s Statement at the International Agency’s Joint Press Conference

We would like to use this opportunity to remind the HDZBIH and the Education Ministers in CBC and HNC that the deadline for the rationalization of school administrations to end costly duplication and free up money for teachers and children expires tomorrow. We were encouraged by the statement made by HDZBIH President Barisda Colak in Vitez on this matter.

We hope that the education ministers in CBC and HNC will follow this lead and issue instructions by the weekend to end this administrative duplications.

I would now like to read out the statement from the HR on this issue: “I view the ending of administrative duplication as a litmus test for BiH’s commitment to Europe and HDZ’s commitment to the reform. These reforms will free up desperately needed resources to be spent on teachers and children, not bureaucracy. They will not affect the curriculum and teaching in the Croatian language. these reforms are test for HDZBIH. we will see by the weekend whether they have passed it.”
