OHR’s Statement at the International Agency’s Joint Press Conference

High Representative in Mostar

The High Representative, Paddy Ashdown, will travel to Mostar tomorrow. He will continue his dialogue with political representatives during this visit, however the High Representative’s main focus will be on listening to what the citizens of Mostar, individually and through civic groups, have to say about the future organization of their city. The High Representative considers it of paramount importance that the citizens of Mostar have an opportunity to make their voice heard – it is the future of their city that is being decided.

At the end of his visit the High Representative will hold a Town Hall meeting where he will engage in dialogue with the people of Mostar. This will be a forum through which citizens’ fears and concerns can be addressed directly. This Town Hall meeting is completely open to all citizens of Mostar – members of the press are cordially invited to cover the entire proceedings, though I would point out that since it is a Town Hall meeting rather than a press conference, citizens rather than journalists will be invited to ask questions.

The Town Hall Meeting will take place

from 18.00 to 19.00 at the Centar za Kulturu, Rade Bitange bb.

We will be issuing a media advisory later today with details of press opportunities related to the High Representative’s meetings in Mostar tomorrow.
