President of the RS, Biljana Plavsic, talked in Banja Luka today with the newly appointed Head of the UNICEF Mission and Special Representative for Former Yugoslavia, Steven Allen. They discussed implementation of the Convention on Children’s Rights and the President promised significant assistance to the UNICEF programme. President Plavsic also met with Head of the ECMM, Frantz Parak, on his first visit to Banja Luka.

The RS PM, Milorad Dodik, met with the Director of the World Bank in BiH, Rory O’Sullivan. They determined forthcoming work in the realisation of credit finances from the WB which should be spent on construction and the reconstruction of large electric power stations in the RS, primarily the water power system.

Dodik also met with the Ambassador of Italy, Michele Valensise. The discussion centered on the political situation in the RS, the forthcoming general elections in BiH and further cooperation between the Governments of Italy and the RS. The PM emphasised the need for a media independent of pre-electoral campaigning, which would not serve any party or person.

The RS Member of the BiH Presidency, Momcilo Krajisnik, met today in Pale with the Head of the Regional Office of the ECMM, Horst Denekie, and expressed his pleasure at their cooperation so far.
