Senior diplomats of the Contact Group member countries will meet tomorrow in Bonn, to discuss Kosovo and the Metohija crisis. They will review the achievements of Richard Holbrook in his latest mission to Yugoslavia and Kosovo, and also discuss a five-point plan presented by Klaus Kinkel, German Foreign Minister, for a solution to this crisis.

The exhumation of the bodies of Serb soldiers and civilians started today in the village of Bukvik, in the Brcko area. Jovo Rosic, Chairman of the RS State Commission for Exchange of POWs and MPs, stated that the families of the deceased had been putting a lot of pressure on the Commission, but that exhumations had finally started with the assistance of the OHR. Rosic expects 52 bodies to be found at the site.

The HR, Carlos Westendorp, today opened Mostar Airport for civilian flights. The total amount of assistance which the EU has been providing for the airport will come to DM 10 million. Deputy HR, Jacques Klein , the Head of the OHR Mostar, Sir Martin Garrod, and Special US Envoy to the Balkans, Robert Gelbard, also attended the opening.

Representatives of the Serb Radical Party of the RS informed the press today that the party will participate independently in the forthcoming general elections, with a complete list of candidates. Nikola Poplasen, President of the Party, stated that most of the media in the RS is controlled by western countries.

The SNS Head of Campaign for the implementation of elections and Head of Operational Electoral HQ, Dragan Beric, stated that he had resigned from his posts due to “ideological rambling and belittling of the serious work of pre-electoral campaigning, by leading people in this party”.
