The RS President Nikola Poplasen and the RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik talked in Banja Luka with Tom Philips, Director for the Balkans in the Political Department of the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The most discussed issues at the meetings were the ones related to the implementation of the civilian part of the Dayton Agreement with a special emphasis on the issues of refugee return, Brcko and preparations for the forthcoming Madrid Conference.

At its 43rd regular session, held in Sarajevo today, the B&H Presidency discussed the preparations for the Madrid Conference of the Peace Implementation Council which is to be held next month. It was concluded that one more session and a meeting with the High Representative Carlos Westendorp should be held in order to prepare better the platform for the Conference. The Presidency established the Working group that will coordinate with the OHR the activities regarding making of the working material.

The B&H Presidency Chairman Zivko Radisic received today Spanish Ambassador Jose Angel Lopez, seven ambassadors of the Islamic countries and the Dutch Ambassador. At separate meetings they discussed the preparations for the Madrid Conference as well as the implementation of the Dayton Agreement. Radisic also received the B&H Federation President Ejup Ganic, upon his request.

The RS President Nikola Poplasen stated in Banja Luka today that he would assess the accuracy of the RS Government proposal on special relations with the FRY. Namely, the RS Deputy Prime Minister and the member of the SNS Main Board Ostoja Kremenovic stated at today’s press conference that the RS Government would make next week a proposal for reaching a new agreement on special relations with the FRY.

At today’s press conference of the SNSD, the Coalition “Sloga” standpoint regarding the establishment of the new government was presented and it was underlined that the Coalition “Sloga” would not participate in the government which would be possibly composed by the prime minister designate Dragan Kalinic since “such government cannot get the support of the majority in the National Assembly nor can benefit the RS”.

The Association of the Serbs from Croatia has been informed that the Serb refugees from the Eastern Slavonia went on hunger strike in the refugee collective centers in Norway, the Association stated today. Serbs from the Eastern Slavonia are in a hopeless situation since Norwegian authorities do not want to give the asylum for 2,400 of them although, so far, they have done that for all the refugees from B&H.
