The one-hour meeting centered on preparations for the continuation of the inaugural session of the RS National Assembly which will be held in Bijeljina on January 12th. Plavsic said that the success of the session would depend on the preparations, and that mistakes concerning the transmission of the session should not happen this time. She expressed the hope that this session would result in the election of a new Government. Klein said that he came to discuss the founding of a Government which would represent the interests of the Serb people, which would begin to address issues of unemployment and economic reconstruction. Leaders of RS parliamentary parties, Serb Radical Party, Serb People’s Union, Socialist Party of the RS and the Party of Independent Social Democrats, were invited by the SRT to provide their assessment of the political situation prior to the Day of RS, but only the President of the SDS, Aleksa Buha, did not respond to the invitation “because he was busy.”

Nikola Poplasen, President of the Serb Radical Party, said that he hoped in future there would be no reason for celebrating the Day of RS statehood, as “brothers from Serbia, Montenegro and RS should be finally united, and celebrate the day of same day together in future. We see the time ahead of us as an interim period in that direction. Anything less would be another historical failure and misfortune of the Serb people.”

Prime Minister of RS, Gojko Klickovic, held a press conference in Serb Sarajevo today. He forecast that suggestions of President Plavsic and Mandatary Mladen Ivanic would not be accepted at the forthcoming inaugural session. Klickovic considers that “Government of National Unity or National Salvation” were just catchwords of the international community and its local servants to mislead the Serb people.
