The President of the RS spoke today to the Mandatary to the new Government, Professor Mladen Ivanic. Ivanic informed Plavsic about the first round of talks with the presidents of the leading RS political parties, and that the talks would be continued in order to establish a new Government as soon as possible. Plavsic expressed her hope that no parliamentary party would confront a concept for a Government which would guarantee unity and the economic recovery of the RS.

night’s SRT programme Mladen Ivanic emphasized that the Government of national unity was the only solution for the RS. He said that he believed that conflicts of interest were not so big as to prevent the establishment of a new Government. He also announced another round of talks with political parties in the coming days, and that he would inform the highest RS officials about the results, so that they could express their views on the situation, as RS officials, not members of certain parties.

The Serb People’s Union supported Ivanic’s concept of a new Government consisting of 11 experts and 11 representatives of parliamentary parties. The Union added that their stand was that the RS Government’s Main Office should be in Banja Luka.

Nikola Poplasen, President of the Serb Radical Party, stated that the SDS and the Radicals had not accepted Ivanic’s concept, as it would bring a devaluation of the parliamentary elections results. The Socialist party of the RS supported Ivanic’s concept as the only way out of the crisis which had existed in the RS for quite a while. The Party warned that any obstruction to democratic processes and the establishment of state institutions could jeopardize positive results of the Brcko Arbitration.

Biljana Plavsic, President of the RS, met today with the international Supervisor for Brcko, Robert Farrand, in Banja Luka. Farrand informed the press that the discussion centered on affairs of the Brcko arbitration which were implemented, especially concerning the establishment of multi-ethnic administration, judiciary and police.

Vice president of the RS, Dragoljub Mirjanic, met today in Banja Luka with the Norwegian Ambassador to the BiH, Thur Gislesen. The topic of conversation was the improvement of relations between the two states, and the current political situation.
