RT RS News Summary:

Best way for lasting changes is for people to support democratic parties themselves – Petritsch (00:47)

In an interview with Oslobodjenje, High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch said he is “monitoring the work of the political parties, especially that of SDS, very conscientiously. It is possible to ban a political party, but the best way to affect lasting changes is when the people themselves support democratic parties.” Petritsch added that “the opinions of the various country delegations in the Peace Implementation Council and its Steering Board, as well as local representatives of these countries are required in order to take drastic measures.” Petritsch confirmed that former Balkan mediators are talking about the need to compensate Serbia for Kosmet (Kosovo) but that “any border changes would have devastating consequences for the entire region.” He assessed Yugoslavia’s re-entry to the UN as of great importance to the region.
