News Summary

Bico visits displaced Kopaci citizens living in tent city near Serb Gorazde

Head of the CD Coalition Caucus in the RS National Assembly Safet Bico visited displaced Bosniaks currently living in a makeshift tent city near their pre-war homes in Kopaci, Serb Gorazde Municipality. Bico expressed the hope that the refugee’s problems in the RS will be resolved in accordance to the law. He added that the latest decisions of High Representative Wolfgang Petritsch on property issues should contribute to resolving this problem. Bico stated that the CD Coalition Caucus would ask the RS National Assembly to include the issue of return to Kopaci on the agenda of its next session. Displaced Bosniaks pointed out the passivity of BiH Federation and Sarajevo Canton authorities in this regard.

Report on situation in the HN Canton Government

“Recently, the most responsible Bosniak and Croat members of the HN Canton Government have attempted to present the current situation in which this institution has now found itself” said a TV BiH journalist regarding the HDZ and Bosniak sides in the HN Canton Government. “Even to a passive observer of the HN Canton Government’s work, it is clear that the level of harmony and accord among the ruling parties now participating in the authority is defeating. Examples of this can be seen in the last couple of sessions and discussion on the privatization issue in this area. While the Bosniaks demand the resolution of several pre-conditions, Croat ministers said they would not participate at sessions until the Government has set a precise starting date for the privatization process. It is clear that the present situation in the HN Canton Government is unsustainable. The logical thing to ask now is who is going to be responsible for this state of inefficiency? The duration of this crisis is impossible to predict. This claim is supported by the fact the last session of the HN Canton Government ended without the date of the next session being specified” said the TV BiH journalist.
