SFOR Czech helicopter crashed Northeast of Bihac, near Bosanska Krupa this morning at about 10:45. SFOR sources announced that there were no fatalities, though six people were injured. SFOR spokesman, Maj. Young confirmed this report, while Dr. Zutic, a doctor in the hospital that received the injured, announced there were 14 injured. Maj. Young added that the results of the investigation are expected to be published in the next several days.

The Federation Government discharged the director of the Federal Customs Directorate and his deputy, in accordance with the CAFAO reports conclusions. For the new Federal Customs Director, Stipe Vujovic was appointed and his deputy is Fuad Kasimovic. The Federal Government also determined the standpoint on discharge of Customs Offices Managers in Bihac, Orasje, Sarajevo and customs outpost Kiseljak.

The new Mayor of Sarajevo is Prof. Dr. Rasim Gacanovic, who was elected today at the constitutive session of the city council of Sarajevo. New Deputy Mayor is Ante Zelic.

The first Spanish Ambassador to BiH, handed his letter of engagement to Chairman of the BiH Presidency Izetbegovic. UN Special Envoy, Eide met with CoM co-chairman, Silajdzic. The main subjects of discussion were progress with the DPA implementation and the Bonn Conference. Eide also met with Federation President, Ganic and Co-President, Soljic. They discussed joint police establishment and NATO troops remaining in BiH.

Holland Minister, Pronk visited Tuzla today in order to overview the project of the Dutch Government for the construction of 300 apartments for refugees from Srebrenica and Podrinje. Pronk also announced another Dutch project: assistance for house construction for refugees worth 100 million DEM.

Commemoration for the late Government Co-President, Hakija Turajlic who was killed five years ago, was held today. Remembering the day of his death Amila Omersoftic said that this murder was not accidental but planned. She brought up the question of the incomplete investigation and the arrest of culprits. (BiH TV revealed the results of an investigation carried out by MUP and CSB at that time).

189 refugees returned from the refugee camp “Gasinci” in Croatia to Velika Kladusa. UNHCR Spokesman Janowski said that they are supporters of Fikret Abdic’s Party.

UNHCR held a meeting with the main subject being refugee return to the Herzegovina/Neretva Canton. The highest Canton officials and the OHR representatives were also present at the meeting. It was agreed that project of return should be carried out in full by February this year.
