USA

Final official results of the US presidential elections have not been announced yet. Ballots in Florida are being re-counted. It is expected that the final results should be announced by tomorrow evening. Reported by Zeljka Lekic.

“Difference in number of votes in Florida for Gore and Bush was so small, that ballots had to be re-counted. Al Gore lost trust of a part of voters due to the Lewinsky affair, although he was not personally responsible for it. If the results remain so close, it might happen that the US do not know who their new President is in the next ten days or so”, Kemal Kurspahic, OBN’s reporter from Washington said.

This evening’s guest in TV INFO was the B&H Foreign Minister, Jadranko Prlic. “If Bush wins the elections in the USA, there will be no significant changes in their policy in B&H. Implementation of the Dayton Peace Accords will continue”, Mr. Prlic said. “As for Bush’s announcements of withdrawal of US troops from the Balkans, it is perfectly normal. Their troops will have to withdraw one day. It will probably take place when Europe becomes able to maintain peace in B&H alone”, he added.
